Our dear friend and brother Jim Smith went to be with Jesus unexpectedly yesterday. His wife Nadene called and said he had collapsed yesterday and all efforts failed through the day to revive Jim. I will miss sharing time with Jim as we would have breakfast together often. He was proud of his family and loved the Lord. I know Jim is with Jesus and no longer sufferring. Jim has struggled a long time with parkinsen's.
Jim is a member of the seniors "Young At Heart" Sunday School class at Skyline Church. Jim often told me how lucky they are to have me. My dear friend and brother Jim, I could only hope, I made you feel as appreciated as you have blessed our lives. You will be truly missed. Everytime we accept the offerring, I will think about you.
Your sense of humor and love will be certainly missed. You left unexpectedly before we could say so long for now. I know you'll be waiting for us...

My wife Sandy and I both serve on staff at Skyline Wesleyan Church in La Mesa California. I serve as the Congregational Care, Seniors and Singles pastor. Sandy serves on staff as one of the administrative assistants and we feel blessed to be serving together at the same church. We welcome you via the webcast to be part of our Home Connect Group. Welcome to our Home Connect Group
We want to welcome you to join us via the web every Wednesday night at 7:00 PM Pacific Standard Time. No matter what your station in life, there are others who have lived through similar experiences as you have. One of the many treasures of a small group connection is the support you’ll receive from your fellow sisters and brothers that can relate and empathize. Certainly, you also have something to offer, such as help to a hurting friend, encouragement for someone suffering from loss or failure, or perhaps just being available to listen. A Skyline home Connect Group is a place to develop both in your personal relationship with God and your relationship with the family of God. As you journey through His Word, week by week, your spiritual life will soar with potential growth! We would like to invite you to give small groups a try. There are many groups from which to choose.
Answers to common questions about our Home Connect Groups
A home Connect group is where Skyliner’s have come together with the goal of getting to know each other in relationship and grow in Christ together. They usually meet weekly in a home setting of about 5-12 people.
In a large church it is easy to feel disconnected. Home Connect groups can make a large church feel small because you get to know other people in real relationship and community. They also can be a place where you have others to walk along side you when you are going through difficult times in your life.
you do not need to be a member of Skyline to attend a Skyline home Connect group. However, if Skyline is not your church home and you attend another church for your regular worship we would encourage you to get involved within small groups within your church if they are offered.

- Bob Lenz
- Bob joined the pastoral staff at Skyline Wesleyan Church July 1st 2008. Bob was licensed February 2008 and ordained July 6th 2010. Bob is currently pursuing a Bachelor of Science degree in Biblical Studies with Indiana Wesleyan University. Bob was born in Trenton, New Jersey, and enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps at the age of seventeen. Before leaving active duty, Bob had achieved the ranks of Staff Non- Commissioned Officer and Chief Warrant Officer III, and left the Marine Corps a First Lieutenant in May 1988. Bob has attended Skyline Church since January 2003 and felt God’s calling to full time ministry in January 2005. Bob has oversight of the seniors and singles groups and is Skyline’s Congregational Care Pastor. Bob is married to Sandy who also works at Skyline Church as an administrative assistant.
